Manu Padovani – Corsican knifemaker
Manu Padovani and Couteaux Corses®: a longstanding partnership
Manu Padovani occupies a special place in the history of Couteaux Corses®.
A historic partner of the brand for many years, he is one of the artisans who accompanied the development of Couteaux-Corses.fr and helped build his identity around the real handcrafted Corsican knife.
Couteaux Corses® remains today the official distributor of Manu Padovani knives.
This lasting relationship is based on the same conception of the Corsican cutlery: knives made in Corsica, unique pieces, real artisanal work and a follow-up of creations over time.
Knifemaker in Biguglia since 2008
Manu Padovani installs its cutlery workshop in Biguglia in 2008.
Before he devoted himself to the knife, he also knew the world of music. Two different practices, but where one finally finds the same necessity: to create, to work with one's hands, to seek a balance and to give an identity proper to what one realizes.
His workshop is the place where his knives take shape, from the work of the blade to the shaping of the handle, to the assembly and finishing.
The documentation dedicated to his workshop also shows a craftsman who adapts his tools to his work rather than the reverse, going so far as to design some of his machines to meet the specific needs of his creations.
Corsican tradition and contemporary creation
Manu Padovani's work is a good illustration of what Couteaux Corses® has been defending since its inception: a cutlery that is deeply linked to the island tradition, but is not confined to the reproduction of the past.
The Curnicciolu naturally holds an important place in its creations.
But his work does not stop at one form.
Over the years, Manu Padovani has developed various knives and personal creations, evolving lines, materials and details while maintaining the foundations of the handcrafted Corsican knife.
This creative freedom, when supported by the trade and know-how, allows the Corsican cutlery to continue to live.
Carbon steel, Damascus, horn and wood
The knives Manu Padovani may combine different materials depending on the parts.
The blades are carried out in carbon steel or in Damascus steel.
For the handles, Manu Padovani work different horns — ram, goat, goat or sheep according to creations, and several wood species, including olive trees.
Each material has its own nuances.
One horn is never perfectly identical to another. A wood has its own venage. The work of the blade and finishes also give each knife its special character.
That's why the knives Manu Padovani proposed by Couteaux Corses® are presented individually.

U Sguardu, Palazzu and Manu Padovani’s creations
Next to the Curnicciolu, Manu Padovani developed his own creations.
U Sguardu is one of his most identifiable models. blade, the materials and details translate this search for a personal identity without breaking with the cutlery Corsican.
The Palazzu also belongs to the models created by Manu Padovani.
These creations show that an artisan knifemaker Corsican is not only the custodian of ancient forms. He is also a creator capable of prolonging them, interpreting them and creating new knives.
